A Twisty Psychological Thriller You Won’t Put Down

Alice Feeney delivers yet another mind-bending thriller with Good Bad Girl, a novel packed with secrets, lies, and unexpected turns. If you love psychological suspense where nothing is as it seems, this book will keep you hooked until the final reveal.

Set in the eerie confines of a nursing home and stretching into the lives of three women bound by a single crime, this story will make you question who can truly be trusted.

Synopsis

On the surface, Good Bad Girl is about three women—each hiding a past, each tangled in a web of deception. Edith, an elderly woman with a sharp mind, is desperate to escape her nursing home. Patience, a caregiver, is not who she appears to be. Clio, a young woman caught in the middle, has secrets of her own. When a murder takes place, their stories collide in ways no one could predict.

With Feeney’s signature storytelling—short, gripping chapters that leave you breathless—this novel weaves between past and present, slowly unraveling the shocking truth behind two murders, three suspects, and one dark mystery.

Why This Book Stands Out

Masterful Twists & Turns – Alice Feeney is a queen of deception, and Good Bad Girl proves it once again. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, another twist flips the story on its head.

Complex, Unpredictable Characters – Edith, Patience, and Clio are deeply layered, each with motivations that make them equally suspicious and sympathetic.

Fast-Paced & Addictive – The short, punchy chapters make it impossible to stop reading. You’ll keep saying “just one more” until you’ve devoured the whole book.

Themes That Resonate – At its core, the novel explores mother-daughter relationships, guilt, and the lengths people go to for redemption.

A Few Drawbacks

➖ Some readers may find the alternating timelines confusing at first.

➖ The ending, while shocking, may feel abrupt to those who like everything neatly wrapped up.

Final Verdict: 4/5 Stars

Who Should Read It? 📖 Fans of psychological thrillers with unreliable narrators. 📖 Readers who love Gillian Flynn, Ruth Ware, or Lisa Jewell. 📖 Anyone who enjoys a gripping, fast-paced mystery with shocking twists.

🚫 Skip It If: You prefer straightforward mysteries without multiple perspectives or timeline jumps.

Alice Feeney’s Good Bad Girl is a cleverly crafted thriller that keeps readers guessing until the very last page. If you love novels that challenge your perceptions and keep you on edge, this one belongs on your reading list!

    1. I loved the tagline of this book’s synopsis: ‘Sometimes bad things happen to good people, so good people have to do bad things.’ From the moment I read that, I wanted to know more

    2. I found myself asking, why were they like this? Each main character represents a different generation and a different mother-daughter relationship.

    3. I enjoyed the twists, though I had managed to work some of them out. I liked the final big reveal; I hadn’t given barely any thought to guessing who the murderer was, so pleasantly surprised by that outcome.

    4. After absolutely loving Daisy Darker, I couldn’t wait to read something else by Alice Feeney. Good Bad Girl came out last summer, and I’m so glad I decided to finally read it.
